CHROMOTHERAPY AND FURNISHING: HOW LIGHT AND COLORS INFLUENCE US
Light and
colors have always been an indispensable element in the life of the human
being. Recently, we talk more and more about the influence light has on our
body and how it is a tool that can improve our health and our psycho-physical
well-being.
So proper
lighting is not only functional in allowing us to see well in a dark place, but
it seems to have a direct impact on our life cycle.
1. Light and biological clock
2. Furniture, colors, and lighting
Light and biological clock
In fact, not
everyone knows that it is light that influences (positively or negatively) the
human organism. Suffice it to think that it is lighting that regulates our
biological clock and thus determines our rhythm of life, also known as the
circadian cycle.
Trivially,
it is the alternation of light and dark that regulates our daily rhythms. So a
correct exposure to daylight helps us fall asleep first, on the contrary, being
in an environment that is too bright in the evening does not induce sleep.
The
alteration of this alternation, caused for example by prolonged exposure to
light at an inappropriate time of the day or on the contrary a state of the darkness during the day can lead to states of anxiety, depression or other
pathologies.
The '
artificial lighting in many cases has a negative impact on our biological
cycle, a classic example is exposure to night lights to the tablet, mobile
phones, and computers. A widespread habit, but highly discouraged.
This is why
careful choices of colors and lighting can help us keep our biological cycle
perfectly balanced.
Furniture, colors, and lighting
When one
decides to furnish one's home, one must also take into consideration the
lighting factor, which in turn is linked to the colors.
In a very
dark and dark room, for example, they will tend to use very light shades that
give a greater light to the environment, while in an already very bright room
it is possible to play more with the colors and even hazard the use of darker
ones.
The colors
also, according to the color therapy, can also help improve mood and cure some
mild pathologies. For example, the blue color is particularly suitable for
those who need calm and relaxation (as well as green). The yellow instead
stimulates creativity and imagination, red is a very warm and intense color and
gives energy and vigor
Depending on
the type of room it is, therefore, possible to prefer a different shade: in the kitchen, it is preferable to opt for the yellow color that increases creativity,
while in the living room it is better to prefer very bright and lively colors
that create a convivial and hospitable environment, even in the bedroom
children can be daring by preferring cheerful colors like an orange while in the bedroom you have to choose colors that are rather soft and delicate to help you
relax.
In addition
to the choice of colors, we must be careful with the type of lighting. We have
already talked about the difference between warm and cold light (color temperature).
The ideal would be to have a dimmable lighting system, with the possibility of
adjusting the light intensity. In this way, it will be possible to have the type
of light you prefer in your own home depending on the occasion, the time of day
and the type of room.
